Youth Dance Groups Announced for U.DANCE National Youth Dance Festival at Birmingham Hippodrome.

U.Dance, the nations largest annual youth dance festival, takes over Birmingham from 13-16 July, bringing together more than 450 young dancers from across the UK. 

Tickets are now on sale for 3 public performances at the Birmingham Hippodrome throughout the weekend.

U.Dance – the country’s biggest celebration of youth dance – returns to Birmingham this summer. The last time U.Dance was presented in the city was in 2010.

Presented by One Dance UK, U.Dance brings together young dancers from every corner of the UK united by a love of dance.

The festival offers hundreds of young dancers the golden opportunity of learning from each other and being inspired by the excitement of performing on one of the finest stages for dance in the UK, The Birmingham Hippodrome.  Birmingham Hippodrome is also Premier Partner for U.Dance 2017.

Each year, the U.Dance national festival showcases some of the country’s finest youth dance companies and this year, with no fewer than 29 dance groups taking part, there’s a wide range of dance styles to see including Afro-fusion, Contemporary Dance, Dance Theatre, Hip Hop, and South Asian

With the national youth dance companies of England, Scotland and Wales also performing, U.Dance 2017 offers a fantastic mix of dance styles, in a packed weekend programme of top quality youth dance.

Friday 14 July, 7.30pm, Birmingham Hippodrome
U.Dance 2017 Opening Performance
West Midlands-based Motionhouse Youth will share the stage for the opening performance with National Youth Dance Company, London’s Impact Youth, Edinburgh-based Ihayami Youth Collective, Hampshire Youth Dance Company, Northampton School for Boys, Northampton’s Dance2 (Advanced Company), Brighton’s Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance and London-based ‘inclusive’ group, SLiDE.

Saturday 15 July, 7.30pm, Birmingham Hippodrome
The National Youth Dance Company of Scotland will be joined for the second performance by DanceXchange Centre for Advance Training (Birmingham), Kidderminster’s Ignite Dance Company, Cambridge Youth Dance Company, Brighton’s Penny and Jules Youth Dance, Manchester’s Pointe Youth Dance Company, St Austell’s Undefined Dance Company, Division from Newcastle and three Yorkshire-based groups: High Storrs Dance Company, Momentum Dance and ‘inclusive’ group, Me2 Inclusive Youth Dance Company. 

Sunday 16 July, 5pm, Birmingham Hippodrome
The closing performance includes Birmingham’s ACE Youth, National Youth Dance Wales, Fylde Coast Youth Dance Company, Nottingham’s Next Door Dance Company, Aberdeenshire’s Re:Volution Youth Dance Company, Lancaster’s Ludus Youth Dance Company, D+ ‘inclusive’ group from Durham and from the Republic of Ireland, Company B
