Be a Sustainable Foodie at Selfridges Birmingham
If you are a fan of drinking a good old summer cocktail under the sun or you are into delicious Japanese food, Selfridges Birmingham is just the place for you. By reinventing their menus, some of its leading food and restaurant brands took a more sustainable turn.
Summer cocktails have become more environmentally friendly, thanks to a new summer menu ‘Nature Kind’, now available at San Carlo Fumo. This modern Italian restaurant’s cocktail menu exclusively focuses on reusing and recycling ingredients such as leftover citrus juices, rinds, skins and seeds of fruits.
The five cocktails, all £9.50 each, include an Avocado Bellini – a delicious combination of prosecco, elderflower liqueur, avocado and Italicus – and a Carnival – a heady mix of cachaça, lime juice, chargrilled pineapple juice and shrub. Both pair perfectly with the restaurant’s new summer risotto, made with new season peas.
Japanese restaurant Tonkotsu has also unveiled six new dishes for summer. Part of this novelty are the two Hiyashi Ramen – a salad, served with chilled, homemade noodles – the Chicken with Ponzu sauce and Shimeji, the Shiitake & Enoki Hiyashi with ponzu sauce suitable for vegetarians and vegans, the Miso Mushroom Ramen as well as sides and an Umeboshi Milk Float Sando dessert.
If you are looking for a quick bite why not try the delicious sushi sets from Yo! Sushi. Yo! Sushi only serves sustainable fish and is a part of Selfridges’ Project Ocean campaign. More than one third of the menu is vegan or vegetarian too, so there’s plenty of choice for everyone.
If you are out on a hot summer day, you can cool down at San Carlo Gran Cafe which serves no fewer than 18 luxury gelato flavours – all lovingly homemade, including pistachio, salted caramel, coconut and more.
