The Winners Of The Birmingham Music Awards, Revealed At A Star Studded Night.
If you missed the very first Birmingham Music Awards you missed out on an incredible night of celebrity, talent and rock and roll! The event saw a host of local upcoming artists take to the stage at the city’s Glee Club on May 2nd. Acts included the uber-exciting Lady Sanity, Ed Greater, Big Ginger Kid and Kioko, who sang a tribute for Lifetime Achievement winners UB40, prompting them to crash the stage!
Set up to recognise the incredible talent across Birmingham and the West Midlands, the annual awards ceremony also aims to unite the local music community and create more music success for the region.
Presenter for the night was BBC WM’s hilarious Jack Parker who kept the audience entertained throughout. Also present was the legendary Duran Duran’s John Taylor, who presented the Rising Star Award to BIMM Birmingham’s Felix Shepherd.
Other winners included Best Club Night; UPRAWR, Best DJ; Jack Parker, Best Festival; Moseley Folk, Best Venue Under 500; Hare and Hounds, Best Venue Over 500; 02 Academy, Best Pop Act; Eve Pitt, Best Alternative Indie Act; Sugarthief, Best Asian/World Act; Eternal Taal, Best Urban Act; MIST, Best Rock/Metal Act; Stone Broken, Best Video; Miccoli, Best Song; Jacob Banks, Best Album; Paper Buoys, Best Female; Lady Sanity, Best Male; Sebastian Tree and Best Band; JAWS.
The BMAs will return next year and promises to be even bigger and better.
