GREAT EXPECTATIONS: Abstract Artist Alexander Rhys
Abstract artist Alexander Rhys takes Inspiration from the ‘everyday’ material and discarded objects that he collects from the surroundings of his studio in Digbeth.
He prefers not to use a brush; instead he uses the found objects to apply the pigment to the surface of the canvas, as he prefers to work in a spontaneous and experimental process. The thick layers of paint create a landscape containing a network of intermixing gestures. His unique works manipulate acrylics with the aim to take the viewer on a journey of finding the ordinary, extraordinary.
Supported by the Prince’s Trust, his work has been sold and published in New York, London, Los Angeles,Chicago and Amsterdam with diverse clients including advertising giants Clear Channel
and leading Kenyan hip-hop artist Octopizzio.
