Magical Lantern Festival Returns To Light Up The Botanical Gardens

Magical Lantern Festival is returning to Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens later this year to light up the ponds, woodland, gardens and pathwaysat the stunning venue. Set to bring another visual spectacular to the city, the illuminating family show will reopen to the public from 23 November until 1 January. 

A celebration of art, heritage and culture, Magical Lantern Festival debuted in the city back in 2016, welcoming 80,000 visitorsto the gardens. The display will not only illuminate the gardens but also boast a spectacular display of artistic sculptures featuring both traditional Chinese and festive-themed Christmas designs.

Guests will enter through a giant lantern entrance, before continuing their journey through the mesmerising festival of light and illumination. There will be life size and larger-than-life lanterns in all shapes and forms; from reindeers and Chinese pandas, to a magnificent recreation of a gingerbread house.

Event Director, Naz Kabir from the team behind Magical Lantern Festival, said:

Its reception for the past two years has been incredible, as we see families, friends and work colleagues join us and enjoy something that hasn’t been seen before in the city. Of course, this year we are planning to present even more incredible creations, with our mixture of traditional and festive lanterns… it’s one not to be missed!” 

Tickets for Magical Lantern Festival go on sale on Wednesday 19 September, priced at £12.50 for adults, £8.50 for children and £38 for a family of four.
