NEW COLLABORATIVE RETAIL AND SOCIAL SPACE CONCEPT LAUNCHES IN DIGBETH.

NEW COLLABORATIVE RETAIL AND SOCIAL SPACE CONCEPT LAUNCHES IN DIGBETH.

119, a new collaborative retail and social space concept, is now open on Milk Street, in the heart of Birmingham’s creative quarter, Digbeth.

Curated by creatives behind some of the cities best music venues and Thrifty Store, Sheffield’s biggest vintage store.

The space has been highly anticipated, bringing together independent retailers and a social space bar and events space, perfect as a meeting place and for hassle free co-working.

Situated just ahead of The Custard Factory, next to the O2 Institute, 119 is home to the West Midlands’ biggest vintage store, which opened on Monday, and is also hosting it’s famous £1 sale this Saturday.

Local pop-up bar specialists PEAKYS are taking over a patch inside the space, inviting locals to come and work inside for free, with the idea of creating an after work social gathering. Open every day from 29th September. They will be serving everything from coffee to their own PEAKYS Session Lager, brewed in the West Midlands. Until a food offering is curated, they are allowing people to bring their own food in. Perfect for students and freelancers alike.

Dance and underground music experts The Rainbow Venues hold the diary to the event space at the back of the Victorian warehouse and Digbeth’s strong industrial heritage.

Bally Johal, who is the brains behind Thrifty Store said: “Birmingham is my home city, so I have always wanted to open up shop here, and Digbeth just seemed like the right place to go. There’s a great food and drink scene here with the likes of Digbeth Dining Club and The Old Crown, it just seems like an exciting time in the area. When the opportunity came up to work alongside The Rainbow Venues who are industry leading, it just felt right.”

The new space aims to work in collaboration with independents from across the city and beyond, with the idea to create unique and bespoke pop-up spaces that can be occupied by other businesses, helping those and the venue to grow organically.
