Spreading “Brummie Love” This Christmas!
Engravers Guild, the personalised gifts company, has this year created a very special Christmas present all about Birmingham.
Partnering with a Birmingham Silversmith, LJ Millington, the internet retailer this week launched a Limited Edition Silver Marmite Lid, embellished with a specially commissioned Birmingham design.
The solid silver item is made in the heart of Birmingham, featuring a hallmark from the Birmingham Assay Office and a relief engraving of a well-known Birmingham landmark.
On the top of the lid sits the famous Bull of the Bullring, trampling over the iconic exterior of Selfridges department store.
Around the edge reads the words:
“SPREADING BIRMINGHAM LOVE FOR…”
As with all gifts from the online store, the Marmite lid can be personalised with a person’s name or up to 12 characters of text.
The founder of Engravers Guild, Elliot Bishton, whose family has worked in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter for over 150 years, said:
“Coming from a Birmingham family, I always wanted to draw on my roots when I set up Engravers Guild.
“The silver Marmite lids were one of the first items we offered, and this year I wanted to do something special to mark Birmingham’s heritage as one of the great workshops of the world.
“Together with LJ Millington, one of the oldest silversmiths in Birmingham, we set about creating a unique design that would draw on the identity of the City.
“After a number of hours in the studio working with the engravers, I’m pleased we’ve been able to create something that showcases one of Birmingham’s most well-recognised scenes and which will hopefully be loved by all Brummies.”
The Birmingham Edition Silver Marmite Lid is £79 with complimentary engraving, and is available from Engravers Guild till Christmas.
