Wicked flies back to Birmingham tonight!

WICKED, the award-winning West End and Broadway musical that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, makes a spectacular return to the Birmingham Hippodrome from tonight for a sell-out four week run until Sun 29 April 2018.

The 2018 UK & Ireland Tour of WICKED has already played record-breaking engagements in Bristol and Liverpool and earned rave reviews: “★★★★★ You could be in a Broadway theatre! Wicked is one of the best touring productions ever to come to the city” (Bristol Post) and “★★★★★ If you want a show to send you soaring into the night, leave you feeling completely bewitched and totally under a spell of musical theatre perfection, then you’d better catch this Wicked tour before it sells out!” (The Reviews Hub, Liverpool).

For anyone unable to secure tickets, WICKED continues an open-ended run at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre. For further information, as well as details of all remaining tour dates, please visit: WickedTheMusical.co.uk

Due to overwhelming public demand, the run at Birmingham Hippodrome is now sold out but check daily for returns and any remaining single seats in person at the Birmingham Hippodrome Box Office, online at www.birminghamhippodrome.com or by phone on 0844 338 5000.

Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Birmingham Hippodrome, Fiona Allan, said; “The audience response to Wicked in Birmingham has been phenomenal and a real testament to the show’s reputation with audiences both here in the UK and around the world. I feel proud to be able to showcase such a spectacular production at Birmingham Hippodrome. To have sold-out the run ahead of opening night is particularly rewarding for us as a venue and it’s incredibly satisfying to see that there is so much affection for the show from local audiences, both new and returning.”

WICKED features Amy Ross as Elphaba, Helen Woolf as Glinda, Aaron Sidwell (best known as ‘Steven Beale’ in EastEnders) as Fiyero, Steven Pinder (best known as ‘Max Farnham’ in Brookside) as The Wizard & Doctor Dillamond, Kim Ismay as Madame Morrible, Emily Shaw as Nessarose and Iddon Jones as Boq. Based on the acclaimed, best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagines the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, WICKED tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. Acclaimed as “a thrilling theatrical experience with brains, heart and courage” (Metro), WICKED transports audiences to a stunningly re-imagined world of Oz, providing wonders beyond your imagination…

WICKED has music and lyrics by multi Grammy and Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Disney’s Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchanted and, for DreamWorks, The Prince of Egypt) and is based on the novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’ by Gregory Maguire and adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life). Musical staging is by Tony Award-winner Wayne Cilento and the production is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello.
