Brand New Circus Show for Grown-ups Comes to Derby

On Thursday 2nd March a brand new circus performance will be performed at Déda, the creative arts centre for dance, contemporary circus, and outdoor arts based in Derby.

Cul De Sac, presented by Jacksons Lane and Jose Triguero, is an absurd and comic circus/dance/theatre duet, featuring world-class performers of Chinese pole and Juggling. The project was born out of the desire and intense necessity to create circus performance with a strong intimate language and personality.

An absurd and comic duet of circus, Cul de Sac explores the sometimes gentle, sometimes brutal nature of human relationships. Featuring world-class juggling, dance and acrobatics, performers Gemma Palomar and José Triguero take us through a cycle of love, irritation, pain, euphoria, caress and carelessness as they journey beyond the stereotypical male-female relationship. Combining astonishing physicality with evocative imagery and humour, Cul de Sac is at once entertaining, troubling and touching, light and dark.

Producer Flora Herberich said “We are thrilled to be creating this extraordinary piece of work fusing circus and visual performance and taking it on tour to three venues across the UK who are truly passionate about circus.”

The show has been designed as a circus performance for grown-ups. The popular circus blog, Lucy Loves Circus, described it as ‘A tango, of sorts, between Chinese pole star Gemma Palomar and the smoothest of jugglers José Triguero. It was funny, it was dark, and, at points, it was gratifyingly absurd.’

Audiences can catch this stunning show, at Déda, one of only three venues the performance is touring to this Spring, on Thursday 2 March at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £12.00 full/£10.00 concession, to book contact the Box Office on 01332 370911 or visit
