Historical Derby Gets Cut Above With New Modern Barbers

Derby welcomes a new modern barbers to Sadler Gate
A new modern barbers has opened in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter bringing life to a historical part of the city – further strengthening the area’s credentials as one of the country’s Great British High Streets.

Everyman Barbers have invested around £150,000 in their store on Sadler Gate, which boasts eight leather barbers’ chairs, free beer, gaming stations, rolling live sports and a large comfortable waiting area.

The launch day on Thursday (March 9th) was celebrated in style as customers were offered a range of whiskies, champagne, cold beers — while a talented double bass player played live jazz and blues.

Managing director Noel Gilronan says that the Cathedral Quarter winning the city centre location of the Great British High Street awards played a significant part in his decision to invest in the area.

“The award was the perfect indicator for the area’s potential and made opening up here much more attractive,” Gilronan says. “Derby was crying out for a modern barbers that offers men more than just a haircut,”

Large wooden mirrors offset racing green two-tone leather barbers’ chairs that have been stylishly emblazoned with the brand’s logo. Other modern features include free wifi and USB sockets so customers can charge-up while having a haircut or shave.

Everyman Barbers toast 10 years with new salons and a hip new look.

The unit occupied by Everyman Barbers on Sadler Gate was part of a scheme run by Derby County Council and Historic England that has aimed to regenerate a number of vacant Victorian buildings in an area of the city decimated by recession.

“Local heritage is important and we’re glad to be part of the a scheme that shows people care about the city,” Gilronan adds.

Everyman Barbers offer students and local companies discounts on all services; rolling live sports, free wifi and complimentary drinks. They also stock a wide range of professional hair and beard products.

Customers are rewarded for their loyalty through Everyman Barbers’ mobile app: collecting six stamps equals 50% off a haircut. Also available is the popular Everycam, a live camera feed which allows customers to check how busy a store is or to see if their favourite barber is working.

Everyman Barbers currently have operational stores in Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham, and Derby — with a Leicester store opening on March 30th.
