It’s In Nottingham Launch Home And Living Initiative

A new It’s in Nottingham home and living initiative has been launched by Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID).

The Home and Living campaign is designed to highlight the great range of homeware from Nottingham BID members and to encourage people to come and shop in the city centre, the initiative has a number of elements and runs through until Easter.

There is a 16 page glossy magazine which is a one-stop shop for inspiration, tips and shopping advice on all things interiors within Nottingham city centre.

It is jammed packed full of products for the home and garden that are available from shops in the city centre.  It contains features on accessories, garden products, the latest in home technology, kitchen products, wall art, furniture and independent interiors specialists as well as the latest design trends in interiors including tropical and metallic designs.

20,000 copies of the magazine are being distributed to homes around the region.  The magazine will also be available from businesses and the Tourist Information Centre.

The initiative also includes an opportunity to win £1,000 of homeware vouchers plus an opportunity for an interior designer to visit the winner’s home to provide styling advice.  Further details appear in the magazine and online at ITSINNOTTINGHAM.COM/HOME-LIVING

To give people further interior shopping inspiration over the Easter break, a number of retailers will be hosting in-store events and offering special discounts. These include:

John Lewis Notingham in intu Victoria Centre is hosting a long weekend of free events for all the family from Saturday 24 March 24 to Tuesday 27 March. There will be a range of activities to keep the little ones entertained, including an epic Find the Bunny hunt across the different departments as well as crafting workshops. There will also be live music in-store, food tastings and treats and demonstrations.

Nottingham Contemporary on Weekday Cross will be transforming the gallery into a catwalk, where guests can get creative and make their own costumes, before taking to the catwalk and becoming an actual walking, talking piece of art. This free event will run from Friday 30 March to Sunday 15 April from 11am to 3pm. There will also be a free film screening at the gallery on Wednesday 11 April at 6.30pm, of the 1939 adaptation of the Wizard of Oz, directed by Victor Fleming.

Sevenoaks Sound and Vision in Flying Horse Walk has an event on Saturday 31 March, when shoppers can pop in and try out their headphones and treat themselves to an Easter chocolate.

Castle Sound and Vision on Maid Marian Way.  On Good Friday and Easter Saturday people can take two of their favourite LPs into the store and they will be cleaned for free on their professional record cleaning machine.  They will also be able to claim their free Easter egg and listen to turntables.

House of Fraser, intu Victoria Centre is organising a Teddy Bears picnic on Good Friday. There will be fun Easter activities taking place between midday and 1pm, when people take in their own picnic or purchase a children’s selection bag for just £1 when purchasing an adult meal from the store’s restaurant. On Easter Saturday between midday and 2pm the store will also be holding an Easter egg hunt with lots of chocolate goodies for the little ones to find. Both events are free to take part.

“Spring and Easter are important times for many retailers as it is traditionally when lots of people are shopping for new products for their homes and gardens.  We wanted to remind people that there are some great homes and interiors shops within Nottingham city centre and to encourage people to come into the city over the Easter period to shop and enjoy some great offers and events too.  This is the purpose of this initiative,” said Kathryn Neilson Davis, a director of Nottingham BID.

“Whilst people are in the city centre they should also take the opportunity to visit our great restaurants, coffee shops and cafes.  Our interactive Taste Finder, which lists over 250 places in Nottingham to eat and drink, will help people find the perfect place.”
