QUAD will screen a film for Transgender Day of Remembrance in November

QUAD in Derby will be holding a special film for Transgender Day of Remembrance. Winner of the Best Foreign Language Oscar, Pedro Almodóvar’s All About My Mother is filled with compassion, generosity and an incredible vitality of the characters.

The story centers around Manuela (Cecilia Roth) who after a personal tragedy, leaves Madrid for her old haunts in Barcelona. She reconnects with an old friend, a pre-op transsexual prostitute named La Agrado (Antonia San Juan), who introduces her to Rosa (Penelope Cruz), a young nun who turns out to be pregnant. Meanwhile, Manuela becomes a PA for Huma Rojo, an actress currently playing Blanche in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’. The film traces the delicate web of friendship and loss that binds these women together.

All About My Mother (certificate 15, in Spanish with English subtitles) screens in QUAD on Tuesday 21st November at 6:45pm. The screening is supported by Unite The Union. Tickets are £7.50, or £6.50 concessions.
