Eat Al Fresco At Pitcher & Piano

Located in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, the recently restored Pitcher & Piano, housed in a deconsecrated church with its original stonewalls and dramatic stained glass windows, is one of our favourite interior spaces in which to unwind over a cocktail or two. But what of its outdoor space? SIXTYNINE Degrees’ Lilith Hunt Sheppard decided to sample the new summer menu ‘al fresco’.

The Pitcher & Piano has always attracted a stylish crowd and now with the launch of the new Mediterranean inspired menu the Lace Market bar and restaurant is sure to attract its fair share of foodies too. Sitting down outside with a chilled glass of wine ( the updated wine list is excellent and feature bottles from a very reasonable £18) as the sun was shining I decided to sample the watermelon and feta salad. Beautifully presented on a base of watermelon, the salad included lettuce, olives, feta and olive oil dressing. The refreshing combination of watermelon and the feta cheese made this Mediterranean salad the perfect lunch option at the appetising cost of only £8.50.

The second dish I tried was a BBQ chicken and chorizo flatbread with roasted garlic, crème fraîche and rocket. Made using fresh dough, the bread was light and perfectly cooked, with the tender chunks of chicken and spicy garlic chorizo making a delicious addition to the flatbread base. At just £8.75 this flatbread can be enjoyed individually as a main or shared in a group (but once you’ve tried it you might wish you’d ordered it all to yourself).

Inside or outside, whether you’re looking for a relaxing spot for lunch or a buzzing venue for dinner, Nottingham’s Pitcher & Piano is definitely worth checking out.
