REVIEW! Jim’s Smokehouse
The Smokehouse flavor of America’s Deep South is the lastest culinary trend, so SIXTYNINE degrees sent Lilith Hunt-Sheppard to Nottingham’s original Smokehouse restaurant, Jim’s Smokehouse, to try it for herself.
Situated in Nottingham’s Hockley, Jim’s Smokehouse has a relaxed atmosphere and stripped back interior. After a friendly greeting I sat with a pint of Samual Adams Boston Lager to peruse the menu and could immediately tell that choosing what to try was going to be tough – the choice is huge and genuinely mouthwatering from pulled pork garlic bread, New Orleans Prawns and Texas Beef Brisket- my job is sooo tough!
For starters I decided to go for the nachos loaded with chilli beans, sour cream, melted cheese, guacamole and salsa. Boys were these babies a treat and proved a great warm up to the main event, The Grand Feast sharing platter which I had asked for as a single portion.
As my dish was bought to the table, I couldn’t believe the amount of food I was about to sample. The Grand Feast includes a piece of every meat from the menu’s mains section apart from the St Louis Ribs and all for the incredible price of 16.50 per person. The first thing that hits you is the genuine Smokey flavor- delicious but it was the Pulled Pork that was perhaps my favourite thanks to the Southern Carolina mustard sauce that accompanied it.
It’s the obvious attention to detail and incredible flavour that means that Jim’s Smokehouse certainly ticks every box! The portions are amazing in comparison to the very reasonable prices, the atmosphere is relaxed, almost homely, and everything is served with a smile. I’ll definitely be back
