Seed of Sobriety
We’re weeping into our Woo Woos as we write this. The average Millennial consumes just 5 units of alcohol a week – 9 units under the recommended allowance of 14. Once perceived as a rite of passage, getting smashed off a weekend is now considered, much like smoking, ‘uncool’ with experts blaming the recording of drunken antics online via social media as a key reason for drinkers going dry.
Even when we are drinking we’re binning the buckets of cocktails and reaching for something heritage with drinkers choosing to sip a craft beer in a microbrewery during a night of beard tweaking and YouTube watching rather going out and getting mortal with the cast of Geordie Shore. Why Aye Canny Lass!
So it should come as little surprise that the world’s first non-alcoholic distilled spirit has been launched. Available In three different botanically based flavours; Spice 94, Garden 108 and Grove 42, Seedlip has been championed by some of the most celebrated bartenders and Michelin starred Chefs around the globe so it can’t be all bad. What’s more it’s available locally at Harvey Nichols and The Edgbaston in Birmingham as well as The Gadabout in Leicester so there’s no excuse not to give it a try sometime.
Seedlip Spice 94 is a complex blend of aromatic, Jamaican All Spice Berry & Cardamom distillates with two barks & a bright citrus peel finish whilst Garden 108 offers A floral blend of hand-picked Peas & homegrown Hay from Ben Branson’s Farm with traditional garden herb distillates in celebration of the English countryside and Grove 42 combines a zesty & complex blend of three types of orange & uplifting spice distillates.
So maybe it is time to say to bin the bubbles and say hello to a life of never ending sobriety… sigh.
