Q&A with New Hope Club
A force to be reckoned with, Reece Bibby, Blake Richardson and George Smith aka New Hope Club are the latest boy band on the scene making waves across social media, YouTube and Spotify.
The band formed in 2015 and released debut EP ‘Welcome to the Club’ two years later. The band have been working tirelessly in the last few years amassing an incredible 73+ million streams across their previous singles and building a global fanbase.
As they release their latest track Paycheck and head out on a slew of UK dates, we caught up with the boys to find out more.
Your latest track Paycheck is out now and we have to saw we love it! It’s a really cool summer track. You teamed up with ROOKIES for this, how did that collaboration come about?
Rookies got in contact with us and shared the song and we loved it. We got straight in the studio and recorded it in London pretty much the next day, but we haven’t actually even met yet! We’re looking forward to meeting them soon.
and is this leading towards a debut album?
We’ve actually had a few weeks off from tour recently and have spent every minute we can in the studio working towards the album. We are getting excited for you to finally hear what we’ve been working on.
Have you got any other collaborations in the pipeline?
We’ve just released a track with Bruno Martini called ’somebody that you loved’ which was great. We love working with other artists as it allows us to try new things and explore new sounds so there will definitely be more to come.
You’re heading out on tour next month, what can fans expect from this tour?
Yes we’re heading out on our first headline UK tour, we can’t wait. We always try and make New Hope Club shows the best we can and to make sure everyone goes home having had the best night. It will be exciting to play some of the new songs we’ve released recently and see how they go down with the crowd singing it back.
You’re heading across the UK, including a date here in Leicester, have you guys been here before or are you looking forward to discovering the Midlands crowd?
Leicester is always a great crowd, we’ve been there a couple of times as a support act so to be going back and playing our own show is big moment for us. It’s very surreal.
Have you got any special covers planned for the tour?
We always like to play a Beatles song as part of our set because they’re our favourite artists and inspiration. Listen out for a new one….
What are your favourite songs to perform live?
Permission seems to get the crowd dancing, and Love Again our recent single really kicks off and allows us to rock out a bit.
What else has 2019 got in store for you?
We’re heading back to Asia for the third time this year which is obviously insane and we couldn’t be more grateful. We’ll also be working on finishing the album, making it the best it can possibly be, ready for next year.
