Eager fans of real ale and craft beer have been flocking to Leicester’s newest bar this weekend, following the official launch of The Head of Steam.
The new bar which launched on 5 April after three days of celebrations held for selected Leicester VIP’s replaces the former Reynard pub, on Market Street.
Guests were invited to choose from more than 120 beers and ales from around the world including a selection of locally brewed beverages, whilst sampling delights from the extensive food menu.
Owned and operated by Hartlepool-based Camerons Brewery, the Head of Steam is set across two floors, with a main bar and a VIP floor that can be reserved for special functions, with outside seating available for up to 30 people.
Commenting on the launch of the new Leicester venue, Chris Soley, chief executive at Camerons Brewery, said:
“It was great to welcome members of the local community to our VIP events, and following some great feedback on our food and wide range of drinks, we were excited to open our doors to the public.
“Our opening weekend has seen a lot of our customers opting to try our own Röad Crew beer – a collaboration with band, Motorhead. The fruity Belgian beer ‘Delirium’ has proven popular, with its trademark pink elephant on the pump hard to miss.
“The beer sommeliers in our new bar have been put to the test this weekend offering customers the perfect drink to compliment the popular ‘Besler Board’ which includes a choice of three ‘light bites’ with a custom beer and ale pairing.
“We’ve had a brilliant time over the opening weekend, and can’t wait to meet those that are yet to experience The Head of Steam.”
As well as catering to families, young people and guests wanting to bring pet dogs along, The Head of Steam is the perfect stop for budding beer connoisseurs, with a discount available on cask ales to CAMRA members.
Beer sommeliers are on hand to educate those wanting to know a bit more, or that want to try something different, with information on guest brews available via the Untappd social media app, where Head of Steam is a verified venue.
