Something For Everyone By The Shed Load

The Shed: it’s a place we all know and sometimes have loved, or least stepped foot in at some point
over the past 20 or so years. On occasion, said foot may have stuck to the floor a little longer than
wanted, but sticky carpets used to be the first sign of a good music venue.

Now all that has changed, boundaries have been broken and industry standards reinvented with
the rejuvenated and regenerated The Shed which reopened its infamous doors on the 1st of April after
a full-on facelift. We’re not talking a squirt of botox and a facial here, this was fully invasive surgery
which saw Leicester’s favourite Live Music venue given a whole new lease of life as a state of the art
performance venue, late night bar and day time coffee house, right in the heart of the Cultural Quarter. If
you haven’t already heard or seen, the venue now boasts two bars, barista style coffee machine, a huge
multi-purpose EasyFlex LED screen, fast WIFI and a double height street facing window.

Within a few short months of being open, the venue has been nominated for ‘Best Venue’ at the East
Midlands Business Awards and the new owner, Elisabeth Barker-Carley, has also been nominated for
Indie Promoter of the Year at the prestigious Live UK awards. Not bad eh?

“The new environment is all about community, honesty, and great live music” says Elisabeth, “Almost
every day you can expect to be entertained in some way, and welcomed warmly if you’re flying solo.”

Although The Shed doesn’t yet serve food, you can order from Deliveroo straight to the door and they’ll even supply the cutlery and plates. Long gone are the days of squabbling over Italian vs Indian – ordering in doesn’t have to mean staying in you know!

It’s a bar, it’s a coffee shop, and it’s most certainly still a music venue at it’s very core. Shake off your inhibitions and your previous perceptions – after all it’s always healthy to ‘shed’ yourself of bad habits.

The Shed is now open Monday – Saturday, and the occasional Sunday with special events.
Happy Hour is from 5 – 7pm, with a pre-gig lounge available for every show. To find out more, visit
them in person or online at www.getintheshed.co.uk
