The Kitchen at The Cookie to launch this month

Kitchen at The Cookie to launch this month

One of Leicester’s most popular venues is expanding with the launch of The Kitchen at The Cookie this month. The Kitchen will be opening within The Cookie, which is located on High Street, and will offer a range of freshly prepared daytime food options, perfect for lunchtimes or an after work bite.

The Cookie has made their name as Leicester’s premier small music and comedy venue, with highlights including sell out shows from the likes of Royal Blood, George Ezra, Russell Kane and many more. Whilst the basement is playing host to the biggest new acts, The Cookie is now introducing the independently run Kitchen to offer breakfast, lunch and early evening bites and will be open until 7pm Wednesday to Sunday.

The launch of The Kitchen follows the opening of the independently run upstairs gin and cocktail bar, The Attic, which launched last year amid The Cookie’s 10th anniversary celebrations and has gone from strength to strength. Manager of The Attic, Xander Driver, commented, “Since opening last year we’ve enjoyed a fantastic first few months. We’re now really looking forward to the launch of The Kitchen to add to the offering at The Cookie.”

Manager of The Kitchen, Nicky Towarianskyj has built up vast experience in Leicester’s food scene and is looking forward to the opportunity to launch his new venture. “The chance to open The Kitchen at The Cookie is a wonderful opportunity and a chance to build even further on what is already one of Leicester’s best venues and bars. We’ll be serving food daily and look forward to working closely with Xander at The Attic and Nik who manages the venue promotions.”

The Cookie is now in their 10th year and owner Tinny Hopkins is delighted with the new developments. He commented, “The Cookie has grown from a coffee shop to one of the city’s best loved venues over the last 10 years. Not just hosting some of the biggest acts in the venue downstairs but also as a regular haunt to enjoy after work drinks and catching up with friends. It was important to us to nurture these new business developments within our venue and it’s fantastic to see the individual ventures doing so well. With Nik (venue promotions), Xander (The Attic) and Nicky (The Kitchen) managing the various operations at The Cookie we’re all looking forward to some great times to come.”

The Kitchen is open until 7pm from Wednesday to Sunday, the bar and coffee shop at The Cookie is open from 11am Tuesday to Sunday and The Attic is open from 5pm Tuesday to Saturday. Both bars are open until 1am on Friday and Saturday and are open to the public outside of their regular opening hours whenever there is a performance in the downstairs venue.
