Royal Blood’s Intimate Tour Review
We were delighted to be among the very few press invited to see Royal Blood at the O2 in Leicester on the 20th May ahead of their album launch on the 16th June.
When the tickets went on sale they sold out within minutes. Their intimate gigs were hotly anticipated and we were almost nervous at the thought of would they actually be any good live?
We shouldn’t have worried, the O2 was full to capacity and as the duo took the stage the crowd were with them straight away. They started their set with Where Are You Now? And that was it, we were hooked. Song after song; Lights Out, Come on Over, Only Lie When I Love You, Little Monster the crowd were rocking along with the band, as they performed in front of a series of vertical standing lighting tubes, creating a series of brilliant effects.
Their raw power and music ability was tight and Ben’s drum solo just mesmerising. Even breaking both drumsticks didn’t stop the brilliance. To create such a sound from just two people is nothing short of amazing. Mike and Ben have an obvious chemistry and they drew the crowd right in. The relentless work rate of the two never faltered.
It was a truly amazing show that confirms that the hype is more than justified. Tickets for their next tour go on sale on the 26th May and we certainly will be at the front of the queue.
