Meet The Familia!

Its been just under a year since Leicester based record label HQ Familia burst on to the music scene and what a year it has been!

With EP releases, music videos and another 5 projects ready to drop, including an international collaboration, they are now gaining recognition in the industry and putting the East Midlands on the Urban music map. They were voted Ditto’s Record Label of the Month in January and have curated many music events in the region, including one in partnership with BBC Introducing. They were also given national coverage on Good Morning Britain for their community work when their founder, Yasin El Ashrafi won The Princes Trust Mentor of the Year in March.

They have now signed a total of 8 artists, producers and DJs with more in the pipeline and they are about to release their second label compilation EP ‘HQF002’.

We caught up with them to “Meet the Familia” and get the inside scoop on what’s in store for the rest of 2018 which is shaping up to be an incredible year!

Charlie Georgio

Birmingham based actor, model and rapper Charlie Georgio is highly talented and a natural performer.  The label knew they had to snap him up as soon as they heard his demo and he was one of the first artists to be signed to HQ Familia.  Charlie has released his first single, ‘You’ which appeared on the label’s first compilation EP, HQF001.  He has just finished recording his second single ‘Gameboy’ which is due for release this summer along with his first music video, so be sure to look out for it!

Harri Georgio

A Leicester based producer and multi genre artist with 3 singles under his belt, including a release under The Ultra Bass label, Harri has already charted at No10 in The Beatport UKG charts with ‘U Already Know’ and is showing no signs of stopping! He has just finished recording his EP ‘No Lie’ which is due out this summer with the lead single and video ‘Rudeboy Sound’ Feat SunSun due out this June.

Maniscooler and Lowpass Luke

This Leicester producer super-duo are HQ Familia’s ‘go to’ producers and have produced tracks for many of their artists.  Their unique sounds are in high demand and they have caught the attention of well-known international artists as well and they are currently working on some very exciting projects. They are definitely the label’s secret weapon when it comes to producing tracks and their sound is highly polished and unlike anything around at the moment. The pair have just finished working on the EP ‘Peace, Lust and Sauce’ by Jafro which is due to be released on HQ Familia very soon.

Matthew R

Leicester based RnB artist, Matthew R has been making a name for himself in the industry and he is a seasoned performer having supported acts such as; Mic Lowry, Donae’o, Angie Brown and Angel to name a few.  He has recently been booked to perform at Tex Fest 2018 where he’s on the bill with artists such as Example, Nick Grimshaw, The Fratellis, Tinchy Stryder & many more. Matthew is due to start recording his debut album this year with an album tour to follow.

DJ Scrivs

Scrivs is a Leicester based Grime DJ and Producer, he has regular radio slots in the region and in London and has supported the likes of Ghetts, D Double E, P Money and Grim Sickers.  He’s played sets at many big Grime events such as, Eskimo Dance and Keep Hush. Look out for him on the festival circuit this summer as the bookings are coming in thick and fast!

Nic Christiana

Nic was signed on an artist management deal with HQ Familia just a few months ago and got straight to work on an international collab with South African based DJ BigRome on a track called ‘Over Time’.  Originally from Birmingham and studying in Leicester the RnB artist then released her single ‘Dead Loss’ feat Chef Chamilli along with the music video which appeared on GRM Daily. She is currently in the studio working on her next single.

Lil T

At only 12 years old, Lil T has already wowed Will-I-Am when he appeared on The Voice Kids in 2017 where his audition video racked up a staggering 3 million views on YouTube.  Since then he has performed at many festivals all over the country, including Notting Hill Carnival.  This Leicester based young rapper has a very promising career ahead of him and we are all very excited to see what comes next.
