From Reggae to Rock; the festival fever continues as bands compete for £5,000 prize
This September sees the Maher Centre in Leicester host a unique music experience. Brought to you by Dreaming In Colour Productions, the Midlands Music Challenge (MMC) is a one day festival, showcasing some of the best upcoming bands the Midlands, and the UK, have to offer.
The top 15 bands were voted for online from hundreds of applicants all aiming for the chance to perform to crowds and industry professionals – who will be judging the performances. The top 3 bands on the night will then go away with a share of £5,000 worth of prizes, including merchandise bundles, equipment and hard cash!
From an eclectic mix of Reggae to Rock, the acts are confirmed as The Fores, Ash Mammal, Lock Up Laura, The Bench That Rocked, Aramantus, The Reckless Youth, Monochrome Empire, Little Dead Town, Ruder Than U, Dragon Attak, Beneath The Lights, The Mini Nukes, Grace Jenkinson, Robert Kelly, Abandon Her plus, an undisclosed special guest performance.
On the day, acts will be performing across indoor stages at the Maher Centre, and the organisers will provide festival-goers with an array of food and drink options, as well as additional musical performances and an outdoor area to enjoy.
Elisabeth Barker Carley, Managing Director at Dreaming In Colour Productions said: “MMC is giving us the opportunity to not only showcase the brilliant music from the DIY bands on the circuit – but also the spin of the prizes is also going to be a huge help to the bands. To be a fantastic musician nowadays sadly isn’t enough, and hopefully with this added boost it will significantly help the musicians to further themselves.
I’m hugely excited about the live event on 12th September, and for everyone involved it’s going to be a fantastic day regardless of who walks away with the top prizes. It sounds cliche, but hopefully everyone will come out of this feeling like they have achieved something brilliant – because they have and continue to do so every day.”
One of the bands through to the final 15, Dragon Attak, added: “We are overwhelmed with the support we received during the first voting stage considering we have only been around for a few months. The excitement and anticipation of watching the positions moving up and down was unbearable. We’re thrilled to be one of the final 15 bands and can’t wait to get out there on stage.”
It’s the perfect way to complete your 2015 festival circuit. For more information and to get your tickets, visit www.midlandsmusicchallenge.co.uk. Doors open at 1pm on Saturday 12th September, with live music from 3pm.
