Oxjam is back In The City With The 8th Leicester Takeover.
Oxjam Leicester Takeover returns on Saturday 28th October, when five venues around the city’s Cultural Quarter will host some of the best music from Leicester and beyond, to raise money for Oxfam.
The festival is entirely run by volunteers, with all of the bands, venues and crew volunteering their time so that all of the money raised on the day will go towards Oxfam’s life-changing work to build long-term sustainable solutions to the root causes of poverty and inequality.
A huge line-up of acts will be performing over 10 hours, with bands including;
Restless, an experimental garage rock two piece, putting out hard edged rifferama with blistering backbeats and grooves, and drawing on electronic sampling culture.
The Fazed are a 4 piece indie rock n roll band from Leicester. The band have a fresh line up, new tunes and are massively looking forward to playing to all of the good people supporting Oxjam Leicester.
The Smallblind Chris Trio plays traditional blues styles from the Delta, the Hill country and all the way to Chicago and Memphis with some good grooves from the state of Texas thrown in for good measure. Influences are quite varied but mostly traditional blues. Muddy Waters, RL Burnside, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Albert King and more.
Her Burden are a Pop/Rock four piece from Leicestershire & Leeds. Influenced by old school punk bands like Green Day and Blink 182, they bring a new sound to the pop-punk genre. Catchy tunes like ‘Lately’ mixed with an energetic live performance, they are not a band to be missed.
The Shrives are a four piece rock n roll band from Grantham/Nottingham, formed in early 2014 they were quickly swept off to California to record their debut album ‘Back In The Morrow’, working alongside Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) and Joey Armstrong (SWMRS). They have gone on to play alongside bands such as SWMRS, The Soapgirls, Soeur and Judas, as well as playing at Rebellion Festival and Dot to Dot Festival. They have had songs featured on BBC Introducing East Midlands and have had support from Steve Lamacq at BBC 6 Music.
