“What do you get if you mix a load of iconic acid house bangers with a 70-piece orchestra? Probably the best rave since 1997, that’s what… A night of soaring synth riffs, euphoric drops and massive tunes.”
“Five thousand happy clubbers exulted in it, turning a recital into a rave.”
The Times – Five Stars
“The atmosphere was incredible.”
Manchester Evening News
“Strings Of Life sounds just as opulent and gorgeous as Rhythim is Rhythim – aka Derrick May – imagined it might when he mixed it back in 1987, while classics like Move Your Body or Ride On Time throw off the electronic shackles that date them for a sensational 21st century rebirth.”
On Manchester Camerata
‘One of Europe’s best chamber orchestras’
Manchester Camerata is one of Europe’s best chamber orchestras, with a restless ambition to redefine what an orchestra can do. Renowned for dynamic performances and innovative collaborations, Camerata collaborates with a wide spectrum of artists, from classical legends such as Martha Argerich to iconic bands. Manchester Camerata’s pioneering work in the community uses music to promote positive change and personal social development across three specialist areas: young people in schools, health and wellbeing, and their youth programme.
On AMC Choir
The AMC Choir who perform at all the Haçienda Classical dates sing with a style that fuses House and Gospel music perfectly.
Matching natural, full-bodied, vocals to recreate the classic tracks which make up the Haçienda Classical set, their voices resonate with the sounds of the DJ’s and The Camerata as their harmonies and considerable energy generate the atmosphere at the concerts.
Based in Manchester, AMC have performed together since the early 90s’ across many tours and special events and choir director Audrey Mattis, says of the involvement in the tour; “Singing these famous House tunes with the knowledge that Manchester and The Haçienda was at the heart of creating the original sound is an inspirational feeling. With the cheering, and the dancing crowds, we really feel like we’re part of a historical moment. It’s uplifting to hear the crowd singing along with us from the minute they hear the intros until the very last note.”
