Magic Door Returns To Lab 11 On Friday 29th July.

Magic Door returns to Lab 11 on Friday 29th July after 3-months

“Magic Door is not a metaphor, there is a real Magic Door.”

After a short break from Birmingham, flitting around a few choice festivals, Magic Door returns for their only party of the summer in their home city on Friday 29th July at Lab11.

The guys delivered another riotous night at Lunar Festival in the Midlands back in June, and have just got back from hosting their notorious boat party on the glittering Adriatic at Croatia’s Love International with new resident Maxxi Soundsystem headlining.

Looking further ahead to their UK summer session, the party is returning with the unique approach which has made Magic Door one of the country’s most talked about get togethers. There aren’t many club nights which don’t exist just on their bookings, for Magic Door is the total opposite, only announcing its guests DJs on the night for a proper surprise (at the end of April it was PBR Streetgang) It’s an event whose emphasis is always focused on a feast for every sense; secret themes, crazy fancy dress, incredible attention to detail on the production, plus of course the special magic beans leading to the Crafty Girls and their glittery makeup and finally re-entering the dance floor down a slide. The result is party with a truly friendly and up for it crowd, all bouncing around a multi-roomed environment each time. It’s the kind of club night you always wished existed – and at Magic Door, it actually does.

One of Magic Door’s founders, Jit, says that: “We continue to try to set ourselves apart and do things a bit differently, this has always been our ethos. We have a massive focus on creative production and presenting unique environments for every single one of our parties.  Our April party with Tom and Bonar from PBR Streetgang plus Maxxi Soundsystem and our other residents (inc me!), was one of our best. We converted Lab11 into what is probably best described as neon Aztec jungle and was fully loaded with a bespoke made LED waterfall, real trees and infinity jungle projections, plus loads more. We tend to always have a loose production theme but always keep it a secret. We quite often get asked why we don’t tell anyone before hand and use it as part of our marketing, but we love the fact that people have no idea what they might be walking into – and the looks on people’s faces are priceless.’

A kaleidoscopic cast of characters work on the dance floor, behind the scenes and in the nooks and crannies at each Magic Door event with up to 60-70 people working at each party. Walking around, it is clear that extra effort and emphasis invested in the detail. Each Magic Door features secret guest DJs announced on the night, and their usual signature disco-techno and spooky house sounds in the main room; disco, funk and randomness in the other areas. Plus there’s the Crafty Girls, Magic Beans, G.o.D, The Devil and more glitter, wigs, capes, general ridiculousness and more costume-based paraphernalia than is really necessary.
