Leicester music venue under new management
One of Leicester’s most vibrant and diverse music venues is now under new management. The Music Cafe on New Park Street, Leicester, will continue to provide the same entertainment as previously expected but will be working with a range of new promoters and event organisers under the guidance of new manager, Vijay Mistry of 2Funky Arts.
The Music Café offers a 350 capacity multi purpose venue plus outdoor space, which can be used for live music concerts, club nights, launch events, private parties and more. Its location in the heart of Leicester’s West End, just a stone’s throw from De Montfort University and the city centre, makes it an ideal venue for event organisers.
The Music Café has been part of Leicester’s nightlife and music scene for over 10 years and has been an important part of the West End’s vibrant ambience during that time. The venue also hosted Welsh indie stars, Stereophonics, who filmed their 2013 hit Indian Summer at the venue.
Director of 2Funky Arts and manager of The Music Café, Vijay Mistry, commented, “I’ve been a fan of The Music Café for a long time and have myself promoted events there before. It’s a brilliant space, which offers a different capacity to many of the other music venues in the city. Since taking over we’ve spruced the venue up and hope to appeal to a range of new promoters and event organisers, whilst still maintaining our important local links.”
The Music Café has a range of events coming up, with new acts being announced all the time. Upcoming highlights include the launch of the bi monthly Subculture club night on 10 October with Northern Soul, indie, two tone, Brit pop, ska and more, and This is England club night on 7 November, with the best music from The Is England 86/88/90 and themed around the film.
