WIN Tickets to Ministry of Sound’s The Annual Classical at Birmingham Symphony Hall
Ministry of Sound’s The Annual Classical, shook the foundations of London’s Royal Festival Hall in January with the sold out world premiere performance flooring clubbers old and new with orchestral reinterpretations of the classic dance tunes from the first five The Annual compilations originally released in the 1990s.
Now heading out on a 7-city tour that comes to Birmingham Symphony Hall on the 18th May The Annual Classical are pleased to announce that the special guest DJ and host for the evening will be house legend Seb Fontaine.
Seb Fontaine was one of a select few DJ’s that rose to international prominence in the 1990s off the back of residences at clubs such as Cream, Subteranea and of course Ministry Of Sound. Mixing compilations for the likes of Cream and Ministry soon lead to Seb joining Radio 1’s hugely influential dance line-up in 2000, hosting a weekly show until 2004. He still regularly DJ’s across Ibiza, the UK and the rest of the world.
Seb Fontaine said:
“Hosting The Annual Classic concert in Birmingham is a real honour, The Ministry Of Sound is such an iconic name worldwide, and has been a massive part of my life from when it first opened. Hearing these classic tracks from the Annual compilations reworked by an Orchestra has reminded me of what a special time that period in the 1990s was for music and clubbing. It’s time to do it all again.”
The Annual Classical finds the world’s most iconic dance brand celebrating and reimagining their legendary dance music compilation The Annual with orchestral reworkings never heard before for some of the biggest tunes of the era:
- The Chemical Brothers – “Hey Boy Hey Girl”
- Dario G – “Sunchyme”
- Faithless – “Insomnia”
- Fatboy Slim – “Right Here, Right Now”
- Moloko – “Sing It Back”
In addition, fans can expect to see special guest vocalists, who first featured on the original dance tracks, performing as part of their new orchestral form on The Annual Classical tour. The surprise guests will be unveiled to attendees on the night of the performance.
A special documentary celebrating Ministry of Sound’s The Annual has also been made, which will be screened exclusively at all of The Annual Classical shows.
