Online Gallery Launches To Celebrate And Represent Local Creative Talent
SUPA Gallery is a new online-only art gallery presenting a hand-picked selection of original and affordable art. Artwork includes limited edition prints, paintings and photography by exciting contemporary artists from Birmingham and the Midlands.
With the Midlands being a hub of creative talent, SUPA Gallery wants to celebrate and represent the region and online gallery is particularly important for artists during the Covid-19 crisis lockdown we’re currently living in.
It has been founded by arts writer and blogger Ruth Millington, who moved to the city 3 years ago. Before moving to Birmingham, Ruth spent 5 years working in galleries in London. She has a background in spotting emerging talent, representing artists and writing about contemporary art. She also has a large art collection of her own, including lots of Birmingham artists.
“I want SUPA to bring art lovers and artists closer together. Friends often ask for recommendations on what art to buy – this is a way of sharing that advice more widely. SUPA Gallery exists to sell great work by Birmingham and Midlands artists whose careers are on the rise, artists worth investing in now. At SUPA there’s no hidden price list, POA or ‘by appointment only’; I want to make buying high-quality art affordable, transparent and fun” – Ruth Millington.
