intu Derby brings the Great British seaside to the centre

intu Derby is bringing the Great British seaside to the centre this summer, with an indoor beach and calendar of exciting activities lined up.

Located outside Boots on level 1 of the centre, there’s no need to drive for hours to hit the beach, as children can grab a bucket and spade while parents enjoy a well-earned rest on traditional deckchairs throughout the school holidays.

Open from 10am to 4pm until Monday 3 September, intu Derby’s indoor beach will also host a variety of free fun to keep the little ones entertained.

Youngsters will be able to get into the spirit of summer at the centre’s free face painting and glitter tattoo station on Thursday 9 August, open from 11am to 4pm.

On Tuesday 14 August, visitors can cool off with free sweet treats and icy delights from the beach’s ice cream bike.

An expert football freestyler will show off his skills in centre on Thursday 16 August, teaching football fanatics a trick or two on the beach.

Families who sign up to intu Derby’s new family club, which launched in May, will also be able to make the most of a series of special offers, free gifts and the opportunity to take part in more events at intu centres across the UK, as part of their membership.

More than 500 children across the country as well as members of intu’s ‘Shopper view’ panel, which is made up of customers from its UK centres, were given their say on everything from the activities the new family club will offer to the free gifts they’ll receive.

Carly Salisbury, Marketing Manager at intu Derby, said: “With the school holidays now well underway, we are delighted to kick off our summer of fun in centre.

“The indoor beach is a fantastic addition to the centre, offering families the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quality time together. Whether you’re taking a well-earned break from shopping, visiting the beach before your trip to the cinema, mini golf or bowling, or enjoying a whole afternoon together, it’s a great way to keep the kids entertained whatever the weather,” she added.
