2Funky Complex Venues Embrace Music, Dance, Comedy, Spoken Word, Poetry, And Visual Art
2Funky Street Kitchen was launched back in the summer, joining 2Funky Lounge and the mighty 2Funky Music Café in Leicester’s vibrant West End. All three venues are going from strength to strength, with tribute nights, concerts, clubbing, open mics, workshops, festivals and private hire on the menu. The trio of venues embraces music, dance, comedy, spoken word, poetry, and even visual art.
Previous artists to have featured include Akala, KRS-One, Mic Lowry, Fatback Band, The Sugarhill Gang, Botown, Julian Marley, Roy Ayers, and many others. The complex hosted Festival2Funky in May 2019, with performance zones showcasing both emerging and established talent.
These venues have a student-friendly vibe and practically all genres are covered; everything from hip hop to pop, jazz to indie, drum & bass to house, and more. There are indoor and outdoor areas, licensed bars and dance floors. 2Funky Street Kitchen features pop-up street food events, influenced by Leicester’s diverse cultures, from the city’s finest guest traders. So there’s no need to leave the complex mid-gig for a crafty curry! A new, emerging trend is daytime clubbing, and these venues have also got that covered.
