It’s Not Too Late To Book That Summer Break!

Summer is creeping up, but you still haven’t finalised that summer holiday. Check out these amazing destinations that you can easily reach from Birmingham Airport.

Morocco, Naples, Split, and Budapest are all fascinating places worth exploring so get ready to immerse yourself in something completely new.

The gateway to Africa, Morocco provides epic mountain ranges, ancient cities, sweeping deserts, and the warmest welcome.

Kick off your trip with a visit to The Sahara Desert. Probably the most well-known and the biggest hot desert which can be explored from numerous places in Morocco. The huge dunes of Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga, are sights not to be missed. Camel trekking, camping, and photography are among the area’s top activities.

Although Morocco isn’t necessarily known for its drinking scene, that doesn’t mean your visit has to be totally dry. Marrakech offers themed bars and rooftop getaways meaning this diverse desert wonderland is more than able to quench that thirst. Enjoy a cocktail or two accompanied by traditional Moroccan dishes at Le Tanjia. Based in the heart of the city and set over 3 floors with a courtyard, eat, drink and be entertained by glamorous belly dancers.

Despite its slightly shabby exterior, the city has a thriving art scene, energetic street life, and tasty cuisine.

Make sure to leave plenty of room in your suitcase as retail therapy is as distinctive as the city itself. In Via Toledo, there is one of the longest shopping streets in Naples. With an abundance of boutiques, a department store, and big chains, you can reach Via Toledo on the metro line – get off at the Toledo stop, one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world.

You can’t visit Naples, the birthplace of pizza, without eating at least one. Head to Sorbillo, perhaps the best pizza in the city. Sorbillo is renowned for making vast pizzas from organic Campanian produce. Our advice is to get there early. The queue to get into Sorbillo can take up to 1½ hours but is worth the wait!

Rivalling Italy for pristine beaches and summer climate is Croatia. Don’t waste a minute of your break, drop your bags at your accommodation and
head out to explore.

Bright, clean and welcoming, the ancient Dalmatian city of Split is a beautiful place to take a stroll around, observing the historic buildings, as well as the Roman ruins of Diocletian’s Palace and the Cathedral of St. Dominus. Make an early start to navigate through Diocletian’s Palace when it’s least crowded. Considered to be one of the most impressive Roman ruins, Diocletian’s Palace is undoubtedly the main attraction of Split.

Just a short walk from Split old town is Bacvice Beach which is perfect for sunbathing or swimming in calm, warm waters. With plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, you’ll be spoilt for choice where to dine for lunch. For some authentic Mediterranean cuisine with a lazy atmosphere enjoy Konoba Matoni.

Hungary’s capital city is as hip as it is historic. Whether you’re into culture, love the outdoors or are a night owl, Budapest has a host of things to see and do.

In Buda you can visit Castle Hill and the Fisherman’s Bastion offering a great view of the city. Not to mention, the architecture of the terrace itself, which is remarkable to see. From the Bastion’s terrace and its seven towers, you’ll be treated to an unobstructed view of the Hungarian Parliament Building, the Danube, the city of Pest, and Gellért Hill.

Known as the ‘City of Baths’, Budapest is blessed with plenty of hot springs. After your morning coffee and tasty pastry from a local café, check out Széchenyi Baths, located in City Park. By day, the perfect place to chill out and get to know locals; by night, the baths host club nights, every Saturday. If you’re into trip-hop and funk music and enjoy a pool party, then this is your chance to try something unique.

Pay a visit to the Great Market Hall, the largest and oldest indoor market in Budapest. Leisurely browse around the food stalls and chow down on small dishes. Rest your feet in the Rabbit Hole Bar & Café- a small bar with a big personality and most importantly… great cocktails!
